Study finds herbs, surgery don't Mix

Contributed by Xanthan

CNN has a story about the importance of telling your physician about what herbal suplments you are taking before surgery. Physicians should ask all patients preparing to undergo surgery if they use herbal remedies, since they may cause complications during the operation, according to a study in this week's Journal of the American Medical Association. Doctors should also be familiar with the potential complications of commonly used herbal medications and know how to handle them, the researchers said.

What I really hate about this report, and Western medical "science", is that fact that all these herbs *may* cause problems. They simply don't know. Gee, why don't they tell the people going into heart surgery that eating meat and dairy *does* cause the problem in the first place? That would be far more useful and relevent. Also, why not warn about not taking aspirin because it too (like St. John's Wort cited in the article) thins the blood. These same "scientists" will then run some useless animal experiments that tell them absolutely nothing about the effects on humans. But based on the worthless results, they will draw conclusions based on what they want anyway. This article is another "study" likely funded by the drug companies in an attempt to sell more useless expensive drugs to people. Drugs cure symptoms (if they even do that), not the problems. Prevention is the best form of medicine. Too bad it doesn't cost enough money, hence it is never recommended by the mainstream medical community.
